There is no single best AI video generator in 2026. The right model depends on clip length, resolution, sound and budget. On price, the cheapest 1080p rate in our list is Veo 3.1 Lite at $0.08 per second on fal.ai, and the dearest is Seedance 2.5 at $0.569, about 7 times more. For the longest single clip, Wan 3.0, Kling 4.0, Seedance 2.5 document up to 30 seconds. This guide compares 19 models on documented limits and list prices checked October 29, 2026.
Which AI video generator is best in 2026?
It depends on the job, and we will not pretend otherwise. We have not run a quality benchmark, and quality claims we cannot source are left out. What we can compare is what the makers and hosts document: longest clip, output resolution, built in audio and reference inputs. We can also compare what each one costs, which comes from the price list behind this site.
So the picks below are grouped by use, and each has a reason you can check. If you would rather filter by your own brief, the model picker does the same job with sliders.

Read the resolution column before the price column. Rows are not equal: MiniMax H3 has no 1080p tier in the list, so it is shown at 2K, and Runway does not state a resolution. Per second prices also differ by provider for the same model, so the cheapest provider is part of the answer. The pricing tool shows every provider.
Which AI video model is cheapest per second?
At 1080p, Veo 3.1 Lite is cheapest at $0.08 per second, so 30 seconds of footage costs $2.40 on fal.ai. The cheapest with documented built in audio is Veo 3.1 Lite at $0.08 per second ($2.40 for 30 seconds). At the other end, Seedance 2.5 costs $17.06 for the same 30 seconds.
Cheap does not mean short. Veo 3.1 Lite documents clips up to 8 seconds, so a 30 second video is 4 clips that you stitch together. If you want one continuous clip instead, Wan 3.0 is the cheapest option documented at 30 seconds, at $0.20 per second and $6.00 for the full 30. For a worked cost of a whole Reel, see how much a 30 second AI Reel costs.

Which AI video model is best for each job?
Lowest cost per second
Veo 3.1 Lite leads on price at 1080p ($0.08 per second on fal.ai), with clips up to 8 seconds. Hailuo 2.3 costs $0.082 per second on Sume, but aggregator pages describe it as silent. The full Veo 3.1 tier costs $0.40 per second, which is 5.0 times the Lite tier. Google's pages are the place to compare what the tiers differ in.
Longest single clip
Wan 3.0, Kling 4.0, Seedance 2.5 document clips up to 30 seconds. Seedance 2.5 costs $0.569 per second at 1080p on Sume, Kling 4.0 $0.235 on fal.ai and Wan 3.0 $0.20 on fal.ai. A longer clip keeps one character and setting without a stitch, but a mistake late in the clip costs you the whole generation. Our Seedance 2.5 versus 2.0 comparison covers what changed in the longest one.
Reference inputs and control
Seedance 2.0 documents the widest reference set we found from its maker: up to 9 images, 3 videos and 3 audio files, at $0.37 per second at 1080p on BytePlus ModelArk. Kling 3.0 lets you define characters and objects as elements. Luma Ray 3.2 accepts reference images to lock subject and style, at $0.40 per second at 1080p. Wan 3.0 is documented by hosts as accepting many references, but those limits come from reseller documentation, so check them on the host you use.
Native audio and speech
Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Seedance, Wan 3.0, Happy Horse 1.1, Gemini Omni Flash and LTX 2.5 document sound generated with the picture. Happy Horse 1.1 also lists multilingual lip sync, at $0.18 per second at 1080p. Kling 3.0 documents Chinese and English speech only, so for other languages plan a separate voiceover. Hailuo 2.3 is silent according to the aggregator pages we found, which makes it a fit for footage you will score yourself, at $0.082 per second.
Highest resolution
The cheapest 4K rate in the list is MiniMax H3 at $0.156 per second on Sume. Several models in the table sell 4K, but it costs noticeably more than 1080p, and most social platforms do not need it. See the social video specs before you pay for pixels nobody will see.
Open source and fast previews
LTX 2.5 is described by its maker Lightricks as an open source audio video model, and the fast endpoint is built for quick iteration. It costs $0.13 per second at 1080p on fal.ai and documents clips up to 20 seconds.
What the table does not tell you
- Quality. We compare documentation and prices. Two models at the same price can look very different, so test your own prompt on two of them.
- Model availability. Hosts retire endpoints. fal lists its Veo 3.1 endpoints as deprecated on November 17, 2026, so check that a model is still offered before you build a workflow on it. That includes the cheapest row above, Veo 3.1 Lite on fal.ai; other hosts list the same model. Our Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0 and Seedance 2.0 comparison has the details.
- Providers disagree. The same model can cost several times more on one host than another. Seedance 2.0 at 1080p is $0.37 on its cheapest host, and the spread across hosts is wide.
- Third party facts. For Runway Gen-4.5 we found a 10 second limit only on integrator pages, and some of them list fixed lengths of 5, 8 and 10 seconds. For Hailuo 2.3, aggregator pages list 6 or 10 seconds and suggest 1080p may be limited to 6 seconds. Treat both as unconfirmed.
- Subscription plans. This table uses pay per use rates. Plans such as Higgsfield bundle credits and change the math, as explained in what Higgsfield membership really costs.
How do I choose an AI video model?
- Write down the shot. One product close up needs a short clip. A talking person across ten shots needs reference inputs.
- Pick the resolution you will publish. A vertical Reel does not need 4K. At 1080p, Veo 3.1 Lite starts at $0.08 per second.
- Test two models on one prompt at the lowest resolution. Judge the result against your brief.
- Re-render only the winner at full quality.
Where Raytake fits
Raytake is a Mac app that makes short videos through a chat with an AI assistant. It shows each model's price before it runs, and it asks you to approve still frames before paying for video, so you can try a cheaper model first and spend more only on the one you keep.
