Kling 4.0 generates up to 30 seconds in one clip, where Kling 3.0 stops at 15. At the 3 providers in our list that sell it, Kling 4.0 costs $0.157 per second at 720p and $0.235 at 1080p, which is 1.25x the cost of Kling 3.0 Standard at 720p and 1.40x the cost of Kling 3.0 Pro at 1080p. Prices were checked October 29, 2026. The rollout details below were read on October 31, 2026.
We compare documented features and list prices only. We have not benchmarked output quality, and the quality claims on Kling's page are Kling's, not ours.
Is Kling 4.0 out yet?
Partly, and the sources disagree, so here is only what we could confirm on October 31, 2026. The Kling AI homepage now shows an "All-New Kling 4.0" banner with a "Try Now" button. The page's own structured data still lists the Kling 3.0 series and 15 second multi shot control, so the site is mid change. fal's Kling 4.0 page says the model runs in the fal playground and in fal Agent, with API access listed as coming soon. At the same time fal, wiro.ai and Sume publish priced Kling 4.0 endpoints, and the Kling API price list we checked has no 4.0 row.
Third party tracker sites describe a staged launch, with a faster Flash variant first for a limited group and the full model later. We could not find a Kling press release or a dated Kling documentation page that confirms this, so treat the exact rollout order as unconfirmed. If you build a product on the API, confirm access with your provider before you commit.

On Kling 4.0 a 30 second video at 720p costs $4.71 and at 1080p $7.05, both from fal.ai, and it fits in one generation. On Kling 3.0 the same length is two 15 second clips stitched together, and the price is per second either way. So the single clip saves you a seam, not money. The cost of a 30 second AI Reel works through other models, and the Reel budget planner lets you enter your own shot list.
Should you upgrade from Kling 3.0 to Kling 4.0?
Upgrade if one of these describes your work:
- You need shots longer than 15 seconds. Only 4.0 documents 30 seconds in a single generation.
- You work from many references. 4.0 accepts up to 15, which matters when one character must stay the same across a story.
- You want stereo audio or per shot control inside one generation.
Stay on 3.0 if one of these describes it:
- Your shots are 15 seconds or shorter. Most Reels cut more often than that, and 3.0 costs less per second.
- You need 4K. Only Kling 3.0 Pro lists it.
- You need a stable API. 3.0 has prices on Kling's own API list. Access to 4.0 depends on your provider for now.
- You are cost sensitive. The cheapest Kling 3.0 rate at 720p with audio is $0.112 per second, against $0.157 for 4.0.

How to try Kling 4.0 without a large bill
- Approve a still first. Check the first frame before you pay for motion.
- Test at 720p. The 1080p rate is higher, so move up only once the prompt works.
- Keep tests short. Ask for 3 to 5 seconds while you tune the prompt, since the price scales with length.
- Compare hosts. The pricing tool shows every provider side by side.
Raytake is a Mac app that makes short videos through a chat with an AI assistant. It shows each model's price before it runs, and it asks you to approve still frames before paying for video, so a more expensive model does not surprise you.
